Radiocarbon Dating
Two young women took on this task.
They were interested in doing something with C-14 since they would be able
to tie it into their History Day project as well. Upon researching
radiocarbon dating, by contacting and visiting a number of people,
eventually they came upon an artifact found by an archeologist in Northern
Wisconsin that needed dating. Working with the UW radiocarbon lab,
the student processed the sample for dating. At that time, the UW
was already sending their samples to a lab in Arizona for dating.
The lab came back with the data confirming that the copper point was
several thousand years old. |
